چکیده
BackgroundThe aim of this study was to evaluate the lipid abnormalities associated with different stages of albuminuria and also examine role of ApoB lipoprotein as a predictor of early diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods and ResultsA total 100 diabetic patients (58 men and 42 women) with mean age group 59.15±10.4 years were studied. Normoalbuminurea (n=36), microalbuminurea (n=42) and macroalbuminurea (n=22) were defined as <30, 30-299 and >300 mg/day respectively. Lipid parameters included, total cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), high and low density lipoprotein cholesterol, apolipoproteins A1, and Apo B. Result showed that Apo B differed significantly (P<0.05) between normoalbuminurea and micro and macroalbuminurea. Triglyceride increases progressively with increasing albuminurea. In multivariate logistic regression analysis, with 24 hours urinary albumin levels was dependent on triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL, Apo-B, Apo-A1 , Apo-B/Apo-A1 and for triglyceride, none of the other variables were significantly associated with the outcome. The model had an excellent explanatory power (r 2 =0.674). Conclusion-. In conclusion during the development of diabetic nephropathy atherogenic lipoproteins may play significant role. Apo B was associated with the early development of microalbuminuria and remained elevated throughout the course of abnormal albuminuria. Apo-B/Apo-A1ratio may be early indicator of diabetic nephropathy.

The nonlinear association between apolipoprotein B to apolipoprotein A1 ratio and type 2 diabetes: Erratum
The ratio of ApoB/apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) has been found to be associated with type 2 diabetes, and it was proposed as a new biomarker for type 2 diabetes predictions. Previous studies have assumed that the association between apoB/apoA1 and type 2 diabetes was linear. However, the linearity assumption has rarely been examined. In the present study, we aimed to examine whether this associatio...
متن کاملComparison of Serum Apolipoprotein Levels of Diabetic Children and Healthy Children with or without Diabetic Parents
Introduction. The association of diabetes and atherosclerosis with disorders of lipids and lipoproteins, notably high apolipoprotein B (apoB) and low apolipoprotein A1(apoA1) is well established. Because of the beginning of the atherosclerosis' process from early life, in this study, the plasma levels of apoA1 and apoB were compared in diabetic children with type I diabetes mellitus(DM), health...

BACKGROUND The association of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and serum lipid profiles is inconsistent. The present study was undertaken to detect the association of ABCG5/G8 SNPs and several environmental factors with serum lipid levels. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS Genotyping of the ABCG5 (rs4131229 and rs6720173) and ABCG8 (rs3806471 and rs41...
